Should you cut a cup holder into your gaming desk?
Check space, construction and drink dimensions before modifying furniture.
Confirm the desk construction first
A cutout is a permanent furniture change. Check the desk maker’s instructions and warranty before deciding, particularly for hollow tops, glass and height-adjustable desks. The visible top does not tell you what is underneath. Do not use a drink holder’s diameter as a drilling instruction.
Measure the insert and its clearance
A recessed insert has its own outer dimensions, depth and supported cup shapes. Check clearance underneath for drawers, frames and cables, plus the drink’s handle and rim above. Those measurements are different from Steadi’s base-fit range. Steadi is freestanding and is not a recessed insert.
Compare reversible options
A suitable desk clamp or side table avoids making a hole. VIVO’s MOUNT-CUP1 is one example of a clamp category; verify its current fit instructions for your desk and drink. Steadi is another option only where a level clear surface supports its full 5.2-inch footprint. Choose according to the actual space available.
